About Chinese Spa

Chinese massage has deep roots in Dubai, with centers concentrated in Deira, Bur Dubai and International City alongside newer studios in the Marina and JLT. The cornerstone technique is Tui Na — literally push and grasp — a vigorous therapeutic massage that works along the body's meridian lines with kneading, rolling and pressing movements. It is firmer and more targeted than Western relaxation massage, and regulars book it specifically for stiff necks, tight shoulders and lower-back tension.

Foot reflexology is the other pillar of the category: a seated treatment where pressure points on the soles are worked systematically, based on the traditional map linking each zone to a part of the body. It is inexpensive, takes 30 to 60 minutes, and is one of the best-value treatments in the city. Many centers also offer acupressure, gua sha scraping and back-walking on request.

Prices at Chinese massage centers are among Dubai's most accessible — often AED 80 to 200 for a full hour. Menus are usually simple and therapists direct and skilful. Message any listing on WhatsApp to confirm the technique you want; if you prefer lighter pressure, say so clearly at the start, as Tui Na's default intensity surprises first-timers.
